After my coffee, I then drink my lemon water with vitamin C while I prepare my vegetable juice.
I've posted about how GAPS got me into a juicing habit previously. It seems to me an easy way to get a minimal amount of veggies in no matter what I do the rest of the day.
Because even after the coffee and the semi-shock of the lemon water, I am still not a morning person, I simplify my juice system by doing most of the prep in advance.
steps for juice for people who are not morning people

ginger & turmeric preground
As I posted previously, you can grind fresh ginger and turmeric roots in a food processor and freeze in a ziploc bag.
You don't even have to peel it!
This works for stir-fries and curries as well as juice. You really don't notice the peel in there.

prepare the veggies the night before
Not being a morning person means I'm a night person. So when I do the evening dishes, I set up the veggies for juicing.
Because you don't have to peel or core anything, it only takes a couple minutes to do.
I put things in the container opposite to when I'll juice them.
- 2 medium or 3 small carrots
- stalk of celery
- 1/2 a small apple or 1/3 a large one
- cup of dandelion or parsley greens
- cup of lettuce
- cup of radicchio
In the morning, I feed the ginger and turmeric roots first, then follow-up with the contents of the prepared container.
I posted recently about Dr. Wahls' protocol. Though I am not strictly following any of her three diets, I am intrigued about the structure of her vegetable recommendations. Given that I haven't done the reserach she has, I am just going on authority with her recommendations about veggie intake.
For those who are counting, this counts as 3 cups of greens (dandelion, lettuce and radicchio) and 2 cups of coloreds (carrots and radicchio).
So... a pretty good start to the day getting in 5 out of my 9 cups! I just need a cup of coloreds and 3 cups of sulfurs to go.
By this time, I have finished drinking my lemon water, so I drink my juice while I prepare my broth concoction...
